Schizoaffective Disorder- Schizoaffective Disorder is a disorder characterized by symptoms of a mood disorder and symptoms of schizophrenia, with both symptoms appearing together and separately
- There is no cure, but stabilization is possible with medication like mood stabilizers and/or antipsychotics as well as therapy
- Schizoaffective people (and anyone with a mood disorder and/or schizo-spectrum disorder) are just as much a part of your communities as any other neurodivergence. In some ways we are especially vulnerable to violence, imprisonment, and homelessness
I want to humanize and spread some awareness of this mental illness, as most people haven't heard of it. Schizoaffective disorder was previously a subtype of schizophrenia but has since been recognized as its own disorder and a part of the psychotic disorder spectrum.
